Irving Janis coined the term groupthink and explains 

groupthink 

occurs when a group makes faulty decisions because group pressures lead to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment.

Irving Janis prägte den Begriff groupthink. Ihm zufolge liegt groupthink vor, 

wenn eine Gemeinschaft falsche Entscheidungen trifft, weil Gruppendruck zum Verfall der geistigen Beweglichkeit, der Fähigkeit, Übereinstimmung mit der Wirklichkeit zu beurteilen, und des moralischen Urteilsvermögens geführt hat.
