A Winter Crack

There is no end of such false and ridiculously exaggerated predictions as below. I tend not to point them out here on my blog. But with the "Russian whip" hitting Europe (temperatures of up to -25°Celcius), I thought this is a joke fitting the season.

Writes, Tom Heller,

I’ve never seen this much snow forecast for southern England.
Experts told us 18 years ago that this was impossible, thanks to a harmless, essential trace gas.
According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”. “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.
David Parker, at the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in Berkshire, says ultimately, British children could have only virtual experience of snow. Via the internet, they might wonder at polar scenes – or eventually “feel” virtual cold.
