The Theological Element in Economics

I used to have a colleague who was obsessed with the idea that quoting oneself was an abysmal sin. I never understood his worry, considering content a more potent criterion than origin.

[T]here is more progress in economics to be expected from understanding clearly that all economics, irrespective of its political tone, has a strong and irreducible theological element, than from couching it in terms seeking to establish a false pretence of scientific apodicity.

The source: My sweet self.
I am yet to encounter an economic school that would pay heed to this condition.
